Senior Designer
Contemporary Womenswear & Swim
Now Hiring in Sydney
The Brand |
The Talent Mill is partnering with a Sydney-based, multi-brand fashion business with an established presence across contemporary womenswear.
Bring your creative vision and commercial eye to a portfolio of established Australian fashion brands with an international presence. Home to recognised Australian labels, the business combines creative design with a strong understanding of its customer and the commercial demands of an international fashion market.
We are now searching for a Senior Designer to lead collection development across womenswear and swim, working within a collaborative team to create relevant, distinctive and commercially successful product.
The Role |
You’ll play a key role in driving the design process from initial concept through to sales samples and final range sign-off.
Working closely with Sales, Production and the Garment Technician, you’ll translate seasonal direction into cohesive collections, balancing creativity with fit, quality, pricing and margin objectives.
You will:
Lead seasonal research across trends, colour, silhouettes, fabrication, prints and market direction.
Collaborate with Sales to develop concepts, mood boards and seasonal range direction.
Design across mainline womenswear and swim collections, responding to each label’s customer and aesthetic.
Source fabrics, trims, print bases and materials that support design and commercial objectives.
Manage print recolouring, lab dips and fabric development details.
Create CADs, technical drawings, range boards and presentation materials.
Prepare detailed, factory-ready tech packs, instructions and measurement specifications.
Partner with Production and Sales on costings and product margins.
Attend fittings from first sample through to final approval, resolving fit and construction details with the Garment Technician.
Present completed sample ranges, costings, hero pieces and key selling features for approval.
Collaborate with Marketing on campaign and lookbook shoots, product storytelling and supporting range assets.
The Skillset |
You are a confident, commercially aware designer with strong trend instincts and a clear understanding of the contemporary womenswear customer.
You can translate inspiration into desirable, sellable product and bring the technical knowledge, organisation and attention to detail required to take a collection through development.
You’ll bring:
At least five years’ experience in a similar womenswear design role.
Experience designing women’s swimwear.
A tertiary qualification in Fashion Design or a related field.
Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Comprehensive knowledge of garment construction, fabrication, fit and product development.
Strong CAD and technical drawing skills, with experience preparing factory-ready tech packs and measurement specifications.
The ability to interpret trends through distinct brand identities and customer needs.
Confidence presenting collections and collaborating across creative and commercial teams.
An understanding of price architecture, margin considerations and wholesale fashion will be highly regarded.
The Offer |
Join a creative, collaborative team working across established Australian fashion labels with an international presence.
The business offers a competitive salary, generous clothing allowance and a centrally located Sydney office just a five-minute walk from the station.
This is an opportunity to shape collections across multiple labels and bring together your strengths in womenswear, swim and commercial design.
To apply, please submit your CV and portfolio through The Talent Mill. Applicants must hold full permanent working rights in Australia.
