With a full range of products across multiple categories, they are accessible worldwide, and united in their mission! We are looking for an experienced Product Developer who is skilled in technical design to drive fit, quality and construction.

The Role |

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in detail; translating design concepts into precise, production‑ready garments and ensuring every style meets exacting fit, construction and performance standards.

From leading fit sessions to resolving technical challenges with suppliers, you’ll play a critical role in bringing technical, high quality SunSmart products to life. You will work closely with Production & Sourcing, Design, Planning and external suppliers to deliver technically sound, commercially viable products on time and to standard.

  • Execute the product development process across apparel and accessories in line with critical path timelines

  • Translate design concepts into accurate technical specifications and production‑ready documentation

  • Manage sample development from first proto through to pre‑production approval

  • Liaise with suppliers to resolve technical, construction and manufacturability issues efficiently

  • Lead and own all fit sessions, measuring samples and providing clear, corrective feedback

  • Ensure correct fit balance, grading, construction methods and workmanship across sizes

  • Review and approve all patterns, measurements, tolerances and construction details

  • Sign off on Pre‑Production (PP) samples from a fit, construction and technical perspective

  • Maintain consistent fit standards across recurring and evolving styles

  • Create and maintain detailed tech packs, CADs, measurement charts and bill of materials

  • Ensure technical specifications are accurate, clear and production‑ready

  • Coordinate internal testing of materials, fabrications and trims, ensuring records are maintained

  • Support the Product Development & Design Manager with technical input as required


The Skillset |

Minimum 5 years' experience as a Product Developer with strong Garment Technician capability ideally with hats and/or outdoor and technical wear

Demonstrated expertise in fit, grading, construction and technical garment development

Experience working with offshore suppliers and production teams

Strong technical documentation skills (tech packs, specs, CADs)

High attention to detail, particularly in fit, measurements and workmanship

Confident communicator who can give clear, solutions‑focused technical feedback

The Offer |

You will work closely with the Product Development and Design Manager to shape the product strategy – Based in Port Melbourne this is a hands-on role, that is suited to someone who loves product development and technical design – who is endlessly passionate about product integrity.
