Payroll Manager - FTC

Globally Recognised Luxury Retail Brand
Now Hiring in Sydney

The Brand |

A globally recognised luxury retail brand undergoing a significant transformation across Australia and New Zealand.

With a strong focus on operational excellence and employee experience, the business is investing heavily in modernising its payroll infrastructure while navigating a concurrent Enterprise Bargaining Agreement process.

This is a rare opportunity to join a high-profile transformation project and play a critical role in shaping the future state of payroll operations across the region.

The Role |

This 12-month contract is ideal for a highly experienced Payroll Project Manager who thrives in complex and evolving environments. Sitting at the centre of a major payroll transformation, you will partner closely with HR, external vendors, and key business stakeholders to support the design, configuration, and implementation of a new payroll system from tender through to go-live.

Alongside the system implementation, you will play a key role in supporting the organisation's EBA process, including modelling, interpretation, and stakeholder communications. You will also take ownership of payroll reporting, driving improvements across monthly and quarterly reporting cycles while elevating processes and outputs to support the scale of transformation underway.

This role requires someone who can confidently operate in ambiguity, bring structure to a system still being defined, and communicate complex payroll, award, and EBA matters clearly across all levels of the business.

The Skillset |

To be successful in this role, you will bring deep payroll expertise within a retail environment, alongside strong project management capability and the confidence to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes.

You will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience leading or supporting payroll transformation or system implementation projects

  • Strong understanding of Enterprise Bargaining Agreements, award interpretation, and employee entitlements

  • Working knowledge of the General Retail Industry Award (GRIA) and Clerks Award

  • The ability to manage sensitive payroll conversations with empathy and professionalism across both frontline and leadership teams

  • Advanced Excel capability, including modelling, formulas, and pivot tables

  • Experience with UKG time and attendance systems highly regarded
