Head of eCommerce

Contemporary Designer Label
Now Hiring in Melbourne

The Brand |

This is a rare opportunity to join a highly successful Australian designer brand with a established international presence and a strong reputation across premium wholesale accounts. Based in Melbourne, the business is now looking to bring its ecommerce function in-house after operating through a fully agency-led model, creating a genuine opportunity to rebuild, redefine and scale digital commerce from the ground up.

The Role I

As Head of Ecommerce, you will take ownership of the brand’s global direct-to-consumer digital business, leading ecommerce strategy, trading performance, customer acquisition, retention, site experience, digital operations and commercial reporting. The role will initially be highly hands-on, working closely with agency partners while reshaping the function, with the clear path to build out an internal ecommerce team.

This is a role for a commercially sharp ecommerce leader who can balance strategy with execution. You will be expected to trade the site, challenge agencies, identify growth opportunities, improve conversion, build stronger CRM and performance marketing rhythms, and ensure ecommerce is closely aligned with product, merchandising, wholesale, marketing, operations and finance priorities. The attached position description highlights core ownership across ecommerce strategy, trading, site merchandising, performance marketing, CRM, marketplaces, operations, inventory alignment, reporting and cross-functional leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop the global ecommerce strategy across digital channels, with a focus on revenue growth, profitability and long-term scalability.

  • Take full ownership of ecommerce trading performance across Australia and international markets, including sales, conversion, AOV, margin, sell-through and customer retention.

  • Manage and optimise the current agency model, challenging performance across paid media, development, CRM, creative, analytics and digital execution.

  • Build the roadmap for bringing key ecommerce capability in-house, including future team structure, hiring priorities and operating rhythm.

  • Trade the website daily, including homepage updates, product sequencing, collection merchandising, category performance, search, navigation, upsells and conversion opportunities.

  • Partner with merchandising, production and wholesale teams to align ecommerce activity with product launches, stock availability, seasonal calendars and key commercial moments.

  • Lead CRM and retention strategy across email, SMS, lifecycle flows, segmentation, VIP activity and repeat purchase growth.

  • Improve paid media effectiveness across Meta, Google, TikTok, affiliates, search, shopping, retargeting and related acquisition channels.

  • Own site experience and conversion optimisation, including product pages, mobile performance, checkout flow, UX, product discovery and content accuracy.

  • Drive reporting rhythms that give leadership clear insight into what is working, what is underperforming and what action is required.

  • Oversee ecommerce operations across product uploads, fulfilment, returns, customer service, payments, platforms, feeds, analytics and integrations.

  • Build strong cross-functional relationships across marketing, creative, merchandising, wholesale, production, finance, operations and external partners.

The Skillset I

  • Proven ecommerce leadership experience within fashion, luxury, premium, contemporary or lifestyle brands.

  • International ecommerce experience, ideally across multiple markets and customer segments.

  • Strong understanding of premium brand positioning, with the ability to protect brand equity while driving commercial growth.

  • Experience managing, challenging and improving agency performance across paid media, CRM, development, analytics and digital trading.

  • Strong site trading capability, including merchandising, conversion optimisation, product launches, sales forecasting and trading calendars.

  • Experience with Shopify or Shopify Plus preferred.

  • Strong CRM, email and SMS experience, ideally using Klaviyo or a similar platform.

  • Strong commercial analytics capability across GA4, Shopify Analytics, Looker Studio, Triple Whale, Northbeam or similar tools.

  • Understanding of inventory, stock depth, sell-through, fulfilment, returns and the operational levers that affect ecommerce performance.

  • Experience working with wholesale-led or wholesale-relevant businesses, with the ability to align DTC and wholesale priorities.

  • Confident cross-functional leadership style, with the ability to influence founders, senior stakeholders, agencies and future team members.

  • A hands-on, entrepreneurial approach suited to a high-growth environment where the function is being rebuilt and scaled.

The Offer I

This is a standout opportunity to step into a true Head of Ecommerce role with the mandate to completely revamp the digital function for a successful, internationally recognised fashion business. With ecommerce currently managed entirely through agencies, you will have the autonomy to shape strategy, improve performance, build internal capability and grow a future team around you.

Based onsite in Melbourne, this role offers significant ownership, senior visibility and the chance to lead ecommerce transformation within a brand that already has strong wholesale momentum and meaningful global growth potential.
