Data Analyst - Part time - Melbourne

Slyletica is a full-service fashion agency that specializes in building activewear and athleisure brands through custom manufacturing, original garment design, eCommerce, and brand development.

As we have grown over the last 5 years, we consequently have outgrown our systems – we are looking for a part time (20 – 25 hours per week Data Analyst to support the Systems Project Manager and the wider business as we streamline and improve our systems. This will be a fixed term contract of 12 months initially with a pathway to permanent and/or full-time work. Our preference would be someone to work 4-5 hours a day Monday to Friday, but we are flexible!

Your role is crucial to the day-to-day success of the business where you will gather, analyse, and model data to improve business operations and maximise effectiveness of existing and future systems and also support the business growth.

You will review, analyse, and evaluate business systems and user needs as well as improve processes and increase effectiveness through technology, strategy and analytical solutions. The ideal candidate will be highly competent with relational database and client-server concepts.

What your day to day might look like:

  • Designing and maintaining data systems and databases; this includes fixing coding errors, troubleshooting and other data-related problems.

  • Mining data from primary and secondary sources, then reorganizing data in a format that can be easily read and understood

  • Integrations and set up of eCommerce applications across all platforms

  • Creating informative, actionable and repeatable reporting that highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement

  • Conducting insightful, ad hoc analyses to investigate ongoing or one-time operational issues

  • Using statistical tools to interpret data sets, paying particular attention to trends and patterns that could be valuable for diagnostic and predictive analytics efforts.

  • Collaborating with programmers, engineers, and organizational leaders to identify opportunities for IT process improvements, recommend system modifications, and develop policies for data governance

  • Creating appropriate documentation that allows stakeholders to understand the steps of the data analysis process and duplicate or replicate the analysis if necessary.

  • Performing daily, weekly and monthly reviews and analyses of current processes using operational metrics and reports

  • Performing onboarding process for new employees

  • Responsible for maintaining the asset register and hardware component

  • Providing administration support when required

What background will set you up for success?

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science

  • 2-3+ years of proven experience in an analytics and systems development capacity (open to graduates if you can display the relevant understanding!)

  • Proven analytical abilities and problem-solving attitude

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proven experience generating technical process documentation, reports and data visualization

  • Excellent communicator with the ability to translate data into actionable insights. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite particularly Excel and Office 365

  • Proven capabilities in project and user-testing management

  • High level of competencies using and problem-solving issues with the following databases, systems and interfaces: API, Python script programming language, CRM, ERP and Shopify

  • Working with SQL Server and related technologies to allow the creation, support and testing of data

  • Highly proficient technical writing capabilities

  • Proven development of innovative and impactful systems solutions

  • Ability to work with partners for optimized systems integration and data migration
