Insight Into How We Find The Right Fit For You (Our Client)
When a Client is looking for a new employee, the applications coming through can be overwhelming - you may receive irrelevant applications or none at all.
Where to start? How do you stand out from the crowd amongst the many other employers out there - why should people work for you?
For small, medium and even large companies, hiring talent is no easy task and most, if not all businesses will experience many pain points while searching.
We have all been there! (trust me, we speak from experience) At The Talent Mill each of our Recruiters have come from Senior Leadership roles within the retail and recruitment space and we have felt these exact pain points firsthand. Generally, brands will reach out to agencies for assistance when:
They have hit a ceiling with their own sourcing
The role requires certain expertise
If a role is confidential
Time poor or lacking a TA team
At The Talent Mill our aim is to be an extension of your internal team. We are passionate about what we do and ultimately, I would say our best and worst quality is we are ALL IN! We are in it for the long haul, through every up and down.
So, what happens after you (our potential client) connects with us? Here is an insight look to the steps we take.
Do The Research!
We first check our internal data base for any previous history.
Moving onto Google searches & going through the Clients Company Website – You can honestly learn so much from Google! We do this prior to meeting with a client, we look up as much information as we can to be as well versed in the brand.
We then go through other platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook.
Exploring these social channels give us great insight to who the customers are and the work experience of the team that have been hired by them in the past, so we start to gain an idea of what works for the client - who is a successful template to base our search off.
We visit a store.
Nothing is more insightful than visiting a brands store. You can get the opportunity to touch and feel the product as well as see the team in action. This is a step that shouldn’t be missed - how can you know a business if you haven't experienced it in the flesh.
Client Meeting – Face time is everything!
You know it’s a good client meeting when everything flows organically. I personally like to ask lots of questions and take notes, wanting to leave no stone left unturned. I love this step in the process as meeting people that are passionate about what they do and their brand only drives me more to find them the right fit.
This is also an opportunity for the client to ask as many questions as they can of us. At the end of the day, they are establishing if we are also the right fit to partner with them, so doing this step thoroughly is a great foundation to a successful relationship.
Internal team meeting.
Next we take the rest of The Talent Mill team through the brief. With more than 20 years + specialist expertise within luxury, lifestyle & fashion brands globally - we each have our areas that we are specialised in (For example - don’t get Lucy started on Aus Designer, and personally I’m obsessed with all things luxury!) and have built solid networks over the years. This allows us to find quality talent timely.
The best thing is all our candidates in our pool have already been met and screened which gives us a large talent pool at our fingers, that are actively looking for the perfect role to come through!
Source!
Sometimes we need to think outside of the box when it comes to finding the right talent.
You need to be able to pivot quickly when something isn’t working, as you might not be the only agency working on a role.
For example, looking at brands that maybe aren’t as obvious or comparable, but have very similar operations or values of the client we are assisting. We frequently fly to other states to head hunt, or we reach out to our large data base for referrals etc.
Persistency is key and editing our approach is how we move the needle.
Ultimately, what we do is transformational, not transactional. We care and that comes through to the people we work with - both client and candidate included.
