Get To Know Team TM: Tamara
Tell us about your career background?
I actually began my career in Advertising, working in Creative Services, which gave me a deep understanding of how ideas come to life and how teams operate behind the scenes. After a great run in that world, I moved into recruitment in a support role, and it felt like the most natural shift — I already understood the creative roles inside-out and knew I could add real value.
In 2020, it was time to make a big change and I stepped into retail, working for an online personal care and household brand, which opened my eyes to the world of ecommerce, marketing, and brand experience. That knowledge has shaped my experiences in Fashion & Retail recruitment, and now I’m genuinely excited to kick off this next chapter with The Talent Mill!
Q. What is your most valued career achievement?
There have been a few standout moments, but one I’m especially proud of was launching a new product and website for an online retailer right in the middle of lockdown. It was intense, fast-paced, and pushed me to grow quickly. Not only did we launch successfully, but we secured our first flagship store and wholesale partners - such a rewarding moment for the whole team.
Q. What is your go to work playlist to get you through the day?
I have a rotating list, but right now I’m loving Emotional Oranges. Super chill, great to play in the background when I need to get into the zone.
Q. What about you makes you great at your job?
Definitely my adaptability. I’ve worn a lot of hats over the years, and I’m someone who jumps straight into new challenges with curiosity. I love learning, and I think that mindset helps me connect with people and roles really quickly.
Q. What is your idea of success?
Simple - freedom.

SABO and Bronze Snake — my absolute favourites at the moment.
Q. Describe your perfect day.
No alarm, no phone, at the beach until sunset with no plans, no need to rush anywhere.
Q. If you could have anyone in the world be your dinner guest, who would it be?
Joanna Lumley. She’s such an inspiring woman — graceful, witty, wise, and full of incredible stories.
Q. Tell us something we would never guess about you.
I had a catering company! A friend and I took a career break and threw ourselves into it. It wasn’t the most financially successful venture, but it taught me so much and I’m proud of myself for taking the risk.
Q. Give us a life hack!
As someone who is naturally clumsy, I need a lot of hacks and this one is really handy - rub a walnut over scratches in wooden floorboards. It works pretty well to get rid of the scratch, and then just buff with a soft cloth.
