An iconic Australian fashion brand known for its modern, tailored designs - they have built a reputation for creating sophisticated, fashion-forward pieces that blend timeless style with contemporary trends.

With a focus on innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship, they continue to evolve while maintaining its heritage of empowering women through confident, polished style.

We are searching for a Knitwear Fashion Designer to join the team, reporting to the Creative Director and working across their brand offerings.

All collections are designed in the Sydney studio and produced in considered quantities, with a focus on lasting pieces made from premium fabrics, knitwear accounts for around 30% of their range - so a skilled Knitwear Designer is required in this role! 

The Role |

In this role you will be responsible for the research, development, sketching, and sample management for each season across multiple brands in partnership with the Knitwear Manager and Knitwear Product Developer. The Knitwear Designer will also work effectively with cross functional partners to ensure product integrity and fit consistency.

  • Ownership over knitwear design for each brand design to development

  • Contribute to the creation of sophisticated, modern, and versatile seasonal collections.

  • Manage the end-to-end design process, from concept development through to production handover.

  • Conduct trend research and translate insights into commercially relevant, brand-aligned designs.

  • Collaborate with the broader Design, Technical Design Studio (Patternmakers, Garment Techs & Sample Machinist/Cutter), Sourcing & Production (including specialised Fashion Technology) teams to bring concepts to life in innovative and wearable ways.

  • Leading knitwear fit sessions with key stakeholders ensuring updated tech pack construction and BOMs.

  • Sending out seasonal stitch development based on direction/brand concept.

  • Working cross functionally with product development on costing options.

The Skillset |

  • Strong design and sketching capability across knitwear ideally with 2-3 years in a similar role.

  • Strong technical knitwear background. Must have understanding of yarns, stitches, and fully fashioned construction.

  • Strong understanding of stitches/yarns in relationship to costing.

  • Strong sketching ability.

  • Solid understanding of garment construction, fit, and fabrication.

  • Experience working with pattern makers and production teams.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commercial mindset.

  • Ability to interpret trends and translate them into brand-relevant designs.

  • Confident communicator with the ability to present ideas clearly.
