The Role |
The financial accountant will lead the management accounting function and ensure the delivery of accurate, timely, and insightful financial information to support decision-making across the business. Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, this role provides visibility over financial performance, drives process improvement, and ensures strong financial control across all activities.
The position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial data, while offering strategic and operational support across wholesale, retail, and e-commerce channels.
Key Responsibilities will include -
Financial Reporting
Own the end-to-end delivery of accurate and timely monthly management financial reports.
Ensure all financial data is properly recorded, reconciled, and aligned with accounting standards and internal policies.
Prepare monthly management commentary and performance insights for presentation to the CEO and Director.
Produce relevant reporting and analysis for heads of department.
Commercial & Strategic Support
Partner with leaders across the business to analyse performance, identify trends, and recommend actions for improvement.
Support business cases, commercial initiatives, and strategic projects.
Provide insights into margin performance, cost structures, and profitability across multiple sales channels.
Build financial models, undertake scenario planning, and conduct ROI analysis for new initiatives and opportunities.
Payroll Management & Support
Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing in partnership with the external payroll provider.
Ensure compliance with all payroll-related legislation including PAYG, superannuation, and award obligations.
Review payroll reconciliations and ensure accurate posting to the general ledger.
Support integration of payroll data into financial reporting and forecasting.
Maintain confidentiality and uphold data privacy standards across all payroll functions.
Report on payroll expenses and benchmarks for retail senior management.
Monitor leave requests and ensure alignment with entitlements and internal policies.
Provide HR support including:
Maintaining accurate employee records and data integrity.
Assisting with employee entitlement queries and general wellbeing concerns.
Supporting compliance with Fair Work and broader employment legislation.
Maintaining records of contracts, policies, training, and related documentation.
Financial Control & Compliance
Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
Ensure compliance with ATO, GST, PAYG, payroll tax, and superannuation requirements.
Oversee external audits and liaise with auditors, advisors, and insurers.
Drive process improvement and automation across finance, payroll, and HR administrative systems.
The Skillset |
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA/CPA is a plus).
2-4 years of relevant experience, preferably within the retail or fashion industry.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software - Xero & Shopify payments a must have
Advanced MS Excel skills
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
