The Talent Mill is partnering with an internationally recognised Australian luxury fashion house to appoint an exceptional Design Director.
With a distinctive design identity, established global presence and a celebrated international runway platform, this is an exciting opportunity to join a highly regarded luxury brand at a pivotal stage of its evolution.
Working closely with the Founder and Creative Director, this senior leadership appointment will play an instrumental role in shaping the future of the design function, translating creative vision into beautifully executed collections while driving innovation, technical excellence and commercial relevance.
The Role |
As Design Director, you will lead the end-to-end design process across runway, seasonal and commercial ready-to-wear collections. Balancing creativity with structure, you will be responsible for bringing the brand's creative vision to life while leading and developing a high-performing design team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Partnering closely with the Founder and Creative Director to interpret and execute the seasonal creative vision.
Leading the design and development of luxury ready-to-wear collections from initial concept through to production.
Driving excellence in silhouette, fabrication, draping, tailoring, fit and garment construction.
Overseeing fittings, sampling and technical development to ensure exceptional quality and craftsmanship.
Leading, mentoring and developing a talented multidisciplinary design team.
Collaborating with Product Development, Production, Merchandising and Commercial teams to deliver cohesive, commercially relevant collections.
Managing seasonal critical paths and ensuring collections are delivered to international runway and market deadlines.
Championing innovation while maintaining the integrity and distinctive identity of the brand.
The Skillset |
We are seeking an accomplished design leader with an exceptional creative eye, strong technical foundations and proven experience within the international luxury fashion market.
You will bring:
Significant senior design experience within an established luxury or designer ready-to-wear fashion house - essential.
Ideally, experience working within a recognised luxury fashion house in Paris, Milan, London or New York.
Proven experience leading runway and commercial ready-to-wear collections.
Exceptional technical knowledge across garment construction, patternmaking, draping, tailoring, fit and luxury fabrications.
Demonstrated experience leading and developing creative design teams.
The ability to work collaboratively with a Founder or Creative Director, balancing creative vision with technical execution.
Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of the global luxury customer.
A considered, solutions-focused leadership style with the confidence to drive creative excellence and operational discipline.
Experience working on international runway collections, particularly Paris Fashion Week, will be highly regarded.
